Penny's Responds to Facebook Post

I am a fan of an awesome Facebook Page - 1 Million Moms Against One Million Moms.  The woman that runs this page went directly to the "One Million Moms" Facebook page and posted this:

The page numbers speak for themselves:

Ellen Degeneres: 2,141,350 likes

The Ellen DeGeneres Show: 6,768,292 likes

OMM's: 39,116 likes
And JC Penny's actually responded! Their response reads:  "Thank you Rita. We love having Ellen as our Spokesperson!"

How awesome is that? Seriously!

Here's the whole thing!

One Million Moms Against JC Penny's Part 2 (Feb. 2, 2012)

OMM began contacting JC Penney after the store announced that comedian Ellen Degeneres would become the company's new spokesperson. Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of its customers are traditional families. As consumers, what we find tragic is a corporate office and customer service department that not only transfers customers to voicemail, but even hangs up on them rather than verses hearing their concerns.

It is absurd to think that a company would find treating customers in this fashion an acceptable behavior. Our members stated their concerns in a kind, professional manner. Insulting customers by ignoring us will not be tolerated. OMM members can shop elsewhere if JC Penney does not appreciate our business. Unless JC Penney decides to be neutral in the culture war and listen to customers in a considerate fashion, their brand transformation will be unsuccessful.

Degeneres is not a true representation of the type of families who shop at the retailer. The small percentage of customers they are attempting to satisfy will not offset their loss in sales by offending the majority.

Since JC Penney won't listen to us nationally, it is time we let them hear from us locally!

TAKE ACTION

Since the corporate office doesn't consider your call important, please call your local store manager. Local managers can are more likely to listen to your concerns and pass them along to the corporate office.

Urge them to tell corporate that Ellen DeGeneres is a poor choice for spokesperson and should be replaced with someone who more represents your family values (please be polite when you call).
You can find the phone number of your local store here, or in your local phone directory.
Sincerely,

Monica Cole, Director

I can't take credit for this one! But some wonderful lady has started a petition to remove One Million Mom's fanpage from Facebook. While removing their fanpage will not stop their movement, it will slow it. Many of their recruits come from Facebook.

My Email to Susan G. Komen

Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to share my response to Susan G Komen with you. The OMM email included an "Email Komen" area where you could simply fill out the form and send them an email... So I did. And here it is -

Dear Susan G. Komen for The Cure,

I have been a long time supporter of your foundation, however, after seeing how easily you abandon women in need, I no longer will be.

I am greatly saddened to see that you have decided to pull funding from Planned Parenthood! Their services are an integral part of the health of many millions of low income women nation wide. Your choice to pull funding will only result in women being denied care vital to their and their children's health.

I urge you to reconsider your choice to remove funding from Planned Parenthood! My support of your group depends on it!

Sincerely,
Sabrina M Bowen

I urge you all to email Komen and express your wish for them to reconsider their choice.

OMM Attacks JCPenny's - My Reply

One Million Moms has launched their attack on JCPenny's for choosing Ellen Degeneres as their new spokes woman. There attack supposes that JC Penny's mostly caters to "Traditional Families" and that these "Traditional Families" will be offended by them having a homosexual spokeswoman...  BUT, here are a few facts - First, people from all walks of life, including myself, love Penny's and shop there often. Secondly, a great many "Traditional Families" hold beliefs which include accepting homosexuality as completely normal. And third, the vast majority of customers don't care who the spokes person is or what their sexuality is.

HOWEVER, as with most of their "causes" One Million Mom's makes a point to target "issues" that no one else is bothering with. Penny's will get a few thousand calls and emails from members of the OMM group demanding that they fire Ellen simply because of her sexuality. And, since they aren't getting even a fraction of that amount of customers calling saying they are glad to see Ellen as the spokes woman, Penny's will back down. Not because Penny's is in any agrees with this group, but because good business dictates that they side with their customers. So when the only significant feedback on this issue that they get is against it, good business sense says "side with the majority" and find a new spokes woman.

Now, I'll be honest, I'm not an Ellen fan. I don't find her attractive or funny or even interesting. Often I wonder why she is famous when I'm not. But SHE is not the reason One Million Mom's is targeting Penny's, her sexuality is, and THAT is something I will stand up against. The more and more "victories" this group experiences the stronger they get and the more recruits they will find.

So, here's the deal, One Million Moms has asked that their members call Penny's and request that they replace Ellen as their spokes woman. I, for one, will be calling both their customer service center and their corporate headquarters to support their choice to hire Ellen. I hope that you will do the same. Phone calls are a pain in the butt to make, but I think when it means standing up against hatred, bigotry and intolerance - not to mention discrimination based on sexuality - I think a little time on hold is worth it!

Their numbers are 972-431-8200 (customer service) and 972-431-1000 (corporate headquarters).

A Thank You for Komen - From One Million Moms with My Reply (Feb 1, 2012)

Yesterday, Susan G. Komen for The Cure announced that it will discontinue grants to Planned Parenthood. This is a major victory. It is important that OMM weighs in on the decision made by Susan G. Komen for The Cure since they are hearing from pro-abortion activists. Let us stand behind Komen with positive support to help balance out the backlash they are getting from Planned Parenthood and the secular media.

While OMM agrees that Komen should have never partnered with Planned Parenthood in the first place, it is important that we back them in their current decision. After all, this is a victory for life.

This will be a hard hit for Planned Parenthood because of the loss in hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual grants. PP is already under investigation by Congress for improperly using public monies for abortions and covering up sex trafficking. Even if this investigation is one of the reasons for Komen cutting off PP, let’s still thank Komen for this action. Pro-life Americans should flood them with support so they will have no doubt that they made the right choice.

Take Action

Please email Susan G. Komen for The Cure and thank them for discontinuing funding to Planned Parenthood.

****

I am appalled that a group that claims to be pro-woman the way that Komen does would ever pull funding from Planned Parenthood. But I'm honestly not surprised. Planned Parenthood does wonderful things for women, including cancer screening. Komen is a "Non-Profit" but the people at the top still make big bucks! So I would have to think that any group which works to keep women healthy and prevent cancer would in fact be a counter to their income... Komen is known for their profit driven fund raises and tactics.

But, regardless of WHY they chose not to back Planned Parenthood the fact is that the did. Planned Parenthood is a highly popular target because they fund abortions and similar care. The simple fact is though, that less than 2% of the services Planned Parenthood provides for low income women and girls is abortion related. The vast majority of their care is simple contraception, gynecological services and cancer prevention. Susan G. Komen pulling their backing will be a financial blow of massive proportion for Planned Parenthood, and will NOT stop abortions (which are generally paid for by insurance or the women themselves) but will stop them from providing their free and low cost services - aka, preventative and ongoing OB/GYN services for women who can't afford other options.

While One Million Moms did not actually have any part is Susan G. Komen backing out of their PP support agreement, they are moving to back Komen. It's important that Komen understands that their choice is HURTING WOMEN!

I am asking my readers to PLEASE, send the Susan G Komen Foundation an email, letter or phone call and let them know how you feel about their choice to pull funding for Planned Parenthood. You can guarantee that OMM members are contacting them to support them, and they need to know not everyone is quite so eager to toss out healthcare for low income women simply to make the point that they are Anti-Choice...

One Million Moms Against J.C.Penny (Feb. 1, 2012)

Recently JC Penney announced that comedian Ellen Degeneres will be the company's new spokesperson. Funny that JC Penney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families. More sales will be lost than gained unless they replace their spokesperson quickly. Unless JC Penney decides to be neutral in the culture war then their brand transformation will be unsuccessful.

Their marketing strategy is to help families shop and receive a good value for their money. Degeneres is not a true representation of the type of families that shop at their store. The majority of JC Penney shoppers will be offended and choose to no longer shop there. The small percentage of customers they are attempting to satisfy will not offset their loss in sales.

JC Penney has made a poor decision and must correct their mistake fast to retain loyal customers and not turn away potential new, conservative shoppers with the company's new vision.

"Importantly, we share the same fundamental values as Ellen," said Michael Francis, president of J.C. Penney Company in a press statement. "At JC Penney, we couldn't think of a better partner to help us put the fun back into the retail experience. Moving forward, we'll be focused on being in sync with the rhythm of our customers' lives and operating in a 'Fair and Square' manner that is rooted in integrity, simplicity and respect. We're thrilled that she's joining our team to help convey the exciting transformation under way."

"They have an incredible vision for the future and are completely re-inventing themselves to become America's favorite store," said DeGeneres in a press statement.

By jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon, JC Penney is attempting to gain a new target market and in the process will lose customers with traditional values that have been faithful to them over all these years.

* UPDATE: In a previous campaign we emailed Disney Channel and requested that the film "Little Manhattan" no longer air on their channel or at the very least cut out the offensive scenes. It did not air for some time. During last night's episode on January 31, the curse word OMM was concerned about being in a children's movie on a kid's network has been edited! The 10-year-old Gabe originally said, "What the hell?!" and now the word "hell" has been edited. Instead of the obnoxious beep to bleep out the foul language, which would raise questions, it was just removed.

TAKE ACTION
Make a personal phone call to JC Penney's customer service department. Their numbers are 972-431-8200 (customer service) and 972-431-1000 (corporate headquarters).
Ask JC Penney to replace Ellen Degeneres as their new spokesperson immediately and remain neutral in the culture war.

One Million Moms Against Mattel & The Kardashians (Jan. 6 email)

This email was sent from One Million Moms to me back on January 6th. Unfortunately my blog was not up and running at that point, so I was unable to post it for you to read. But here it is, better late than never!  -

Kardashian sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe have teamed up with Barbie to launch their own line of limited-edition dolls. "The dolls will reflect the girls' measurements and may even come in Kardashian-designed outfits," a source told New York Post.

Children should not be influenced by toys that idolize lifestyles that lack morals and values. These reality stars are not the example our young girls need. Beyond being materialistic and superficial, it is a fact that a sex tape led the sisters to fame and fortune. The 72-day marriage, multiple divorces, and multiple children (Kourtney pregnant with second child now) out of wedlock are completely inappropriate role models for children.

Scenes and topics of discussion on their reality show(s) include:
• Nude yoga with a nude male yoga instructor
• Modeling in Playboy Magazine which gives mother the idea to model nude in pictures as a gift to her husband
• Discussion of sexual bondage
• Watching porn on their computers
• Suggestions of a three-some
• Excess alcohol consumption which leads to violence
• Arrest for DUI
• Married Kim strips in front of male friend to see if he looks at her to determine if he is gay or not
• Huge fights between siblings
• High volume of foul language

This material is completely inappropriate for television and as the basis for a child's toy. Can you imagine if your daughter sees a Barbie commercial or a doll on the store shelves for a porn star? Or worse your child receives this toy as a gift at her birthday party!

TAKE ACTION

Urge Mattel to reverse their decision to partner with the Kardashian brand by sending them an email now. Let Mattel know that if they produce these limited-edition Barbie dolls then you will no longer buy Barbie or Mattel products and will gladly give your business to toy manufacturers that have the children's best interest in mind. Mattel should back out when they are slammed with emails from angry parents about their making a porn star doll for young girls.

Please Show Support for Macy's!

One Million Moms has asked that everyone who received their January 27th, 2012 email sign their name and email address to the following email and send it off (through their system) to the President of Macy's, Terry J. Lundgren.
"As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am greatly disappointed in your company's decision to offend mainstream Americans with your newest mail catalogue.

In the hopes of making sales, your company has instead offended many customers in the process. The back cover looks like just a regular ad for your wedding registry service, but there is one major difference with the cake topper of two men instead of the traditional man and woman. The ad also includes a license plate that reads "I do" and hearts scattered everywhere. Just because gay marriage is legal in a few states does not mean this is appropriate marketing. As a conservative customer I will not support it.

While your company is a household name, I do not agree with your irresponsible choice of standing behind gay marriage. The homosexual content is highly offensive and not family-friendly advertising.

As a consumer, I am asking you to please pull your "two groom" ad immediately and support traditional family values instead of this liberal agenda. My decision to shop in your store depends on it.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern."
I feel it's greatly important that Macy's also hears positive feedback for such a progressive actions and views towards the LGBT community! Macy's needs to understand that while certain members of the community continue to see LGBT persons as "offensive" and "non-family friendly" that they are NOT the "mainstream" as they claim. And that while they may lose the patronage of a few radicals, they will gain the support of many many more!

I have decided to counter OMM's email with this response. Feel free to simply copy and paste, or to write your own...
"As a mother and a member of the LGBT community, I am extremely pleased in your company's decision to support same sex marriage with your newest mail catalog.  Your inclusion of a wedding cake with a two groom topper was an exciting surprise in my mailbox!

Companies like yours are often looked to as an example for newer or smaller companies, and to the community as a whole.  So to see you take such a stand in support of tolerance and love of all shades is nothing less than a blessing, as it is a trend I believe will now become more acceptable and more wide spread among other businesses and companies.

I am sorry to say that it has come to my attention that certain groups have used this as an opportunity to attack your company and your ads as "offensive" and "non-family friendly." However, I plead with you NOT to drop such ads or support to the LGBT community. This group and their supporters do NOT represent the majority of your customer base! As a proud mother, and lover of family, I find the intolerance and hatred that this, and similar groups, choose to spread as highly offensive!

Love, in all it's forms and expressions, is a beautiful blessing and should be embraced and supported as such! I have been a Macy's shopper for many years, and I would like to continue this relationship. However, I feel it would set the wrong example for my children if I were to continue shopping with a company who chose to support the values of an overly conservative hate group, rather than continue to show support to Freedom, Love and Civil Rights! So I am sorry to say that my patronage depends on your continued use of Same Sex Marriage ads, and support of the LGBT community as a whole.

I look forward to your reply, and I thank you for taking the time to do the right thing."
