While I understand this may not be the best "family show." But Lifetime is NOT a "family" based network. Instead it's a network for women - ADULT women. So like the vast majority of OMM's issues, if you're able to turn the channel, it's NOT an issue at all! But, they prefer to err on the side of censorship than to give the public the choice as to whether they would like to watch the show or not. Personally, I've been waiting to see this one since I first heard about it. I LOVE Jennifer Love Hewitt!
So, here is the letter that OMM's sheeple are bombarding A&E Network President, Nancy Dubuc with:
Dear President Nancy Dubuc,
As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I strongly encourage Lifetime and A&E Television Networks, LLC to drop all plans to air the highly sexual program "The Client List." Some in the entertainment business have gone too far, for too long.
I am prepared to join thousands of other voices in urging advertisers to place it on their "do not advertise" list and consider pulling all ads from the Lifetime network in protest of this show. Programs that simulate soft porn never last long.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
In essence OMM has decided to not only turn to harassment, but threats of harassment against advertisers to get their way. Unfortunately, OMM does have around 40,000 sheeple ready and willing to sign their name to this, and future emails in support of their overly conservative causes.
So, it's up to the rest of us to show support for networks, the show itself, the advertisers and the stars of the show. Even if you are thinking "this isn't a show I'm even interested in" the fact is that this issue is NOT about a show, but about OMM's drive to force their agenda on to networks and the entertainment industries simply because they decide that YOU should not or don't deserve the right to choose to watch/read/hear something.
Here, is the email I am sending to A&E Network President. As well as contact information so that you may follow me in showing support. (feel free to copy & paste this email - since that's just what OMM does)
Dear President Nancy Dubuc,
It has recently come to my attention that the hate group OneMillionMoms has chosen to target your up and coming show "The Client List" in an effort to stop you from airing it. As a mother, a long time Lifetime, A&E and Jennifer Love Hewitt fan, I for one can not wait to see this show air. I am excited to see a show that, for once, shows the difficulties of being a single mother, as well as explores "alternative" lifestyles. I feel a show like this could go far to help mothers in similar situations feel less alone. Additionally, I feel this show will be a nice "escape" for many who are simply tired of the "same ol' same ol'" when it comes to entertainment. I hope that you will choose NOT to remove this program from your network.
OneMillionMoms has recently been in the news for promoting bigotry and anti-tolerance campaigns against homosexuals. However, this is simply a small portion of what they stand for, or rather against. And it is unfortunate that so many networks, companies and people have fallen prey to their tactics. Please do not allow yourself to be next.
Through my blogs, website and Facebook pages I am connected to thousands of people prepared to join together to support your network, as well as advertisers in an effort to counter their harassment methods. It would be truly saddening to see you join forces with group based on the idea of spreading intolerance and censorship. Please make it known that this is NOT an agenda you are willing to be a part of, and continue to allow consumers to make their own choices about entertainment. If you're interested in contacting Nancy Dubuc yourself to voice your opinion, or even to copy & paste mine (again, in classic OMM style) please use the contact information below:
I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
