One Million Moms and Nazi America

This morning I watched a special on H2 called "American Nazi." This show explored how the Nazi and "White Power" movements started, progressed and continue to proceed in the US. For the most part, I wasn't seeing anything I didn't know. But I was shocked to see how many parallels I was finding between the Nazi activity in the US and the activity of One Million Moms.

Now I would HOPE that the members of OMM would agree that these "Nazi" movements and their members are hurtful to society and are based in hate of others rather than in the love of self which they claim to promote. And I do NOT believe that OMM is in any way associated with any White Power or Nazi movement, so please do NOT take this comparison to reflect that type of idea. I do, however, think it's important to show the similarities as they are, because while OMM and Nazi Style groups have different agendas, their tactics and motivations are many times one in the same.

Both groups work to create a society where their beliefs and views are seen as the "accepted" views and where counter beliefs, views and lifestyles are simply not tolerated!

Both groups work to control what is and isn't shown by major media.

Both groups scream "Freedom of Speech/Religion" when challenged or told to stop what they are doing.

Both groups CLAIM to be standing up for their religious beliefs.

Both groups CLAIM to be doing what they do to "create a better world for their children."

Both groups enact boycotts and bombard companies/organizations with harassing mail/email/phone calls to try and force their movement.

And what I see as the worst part, is Both groups target homosexuals and non-Christians.

Now, like I said, I do NOT think OMM is at all linked to any Nazi Group! There are some differences, Nazi Groups often turn to violence, target Jewish believers, African, Japanese, and other Non-White Americans, and even go so far as to deny basic and widely known history in order to try and impress their beliefs on others.

My point here, though, is that while OMM screams "we're not a hate group!" They ACT in a way that says differently. I would assume that just about everyone can agree that these "White Supremacy" groups are without a doubt, hate groups! Hiding behind our Freedom of Speech, Publication and Beliefs they attempt to deny others their right to live their own lives by their own choices - This is NO different than what OMM tries to do.

Many times I have been asked why I do what I do to fight against OMM and other similar groups. And here is my answer - I am a proud American! I love my freedom, and want to ensure that my children have the same freedoms, if not more, than I have! I want my children to have the opportunity to live their lives to the fullest and by their own beliefs and ideals.

Groups like OMM work to squash those very freedoms they exploit by attempting to force companies, organizations and television networks in to censoring their products, messages and programing to fit the beliefs of OMM's members. By doing this, they limit the freedom of other American's to make their own choices about what products, messages and programs they wish to be exposed to or in support of.

This is NO different than Nazi groups attempting to stop Networks from showing African American Programing, or stop companies from producing "Disabled" dolls or toys simply because the support of such things go against THEIR beliefs.

I believe that BOTH types of groups are doing what they do because they do what a better world. However I feel both groups are very mislead on what "better" is. In my mind, better is a more peaceful, loving and tolerant society, not one that tries to limit what it's citizens are permitted to see, purchase or hear.

So here is my message to One Million Moms, Nazi Groups and any other groups with similar agendas...
If you don't like our Freedom - MOVE!
If you don't want to see a program - TURN THE CHANNEL
If you don't want to support a company because of their support of equality and tolerance - FIND A NEW COMPANY TO SUPPORT!
If you don't like a product - DON'T BUY IT!
If you don't like something - SIMPLY DON'T SUPPORT IT!
BUT DO NOT REMOVE MY RIGHT TO!

Watch the Clorox Liquid-Plumr Commercial

Here it is yall... This is the commercial that OMM is so up in arms over. Seems pretty tame by my standards!

Emails to Clorox & Liquid Plumr

I posted OMM's email about the Liquid Plumr add, and now I would like to share with you both their email and mine... So here they are...

First, here is the email that OMM members are being asked to sign and forward to Clorox:
As a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am extremely disappointed in your new two, sexy plumbers commercial introducing the Liquid-Plumr Double Impact Snake and Gel System.

The commercial is extremely sensual and sexual. While the shock value of this ad may draw attention to your brand, it is harmful to children.

Your ad is irresponsible and tasteless! Please, don't lower your advertising standards to this level. You can do better.

I hope to hear you agree and will pull this ad immediately and go back to your old advertising methods. My respect for your company depends on it.

And here is my version, feel free to sign and send or to create your own version:
It has recently come to my attention that you have been targeted by the One Million Moms group because of your recent Liquid-Plumr ads. As a mother, I want to express how much I enjoyed your commercial.

I found the ad to be completely entertaining and enjoyable. I have three children, all of whom watch television with me, and all of whom have watched your commercial. I saw, and continue to see, nothing wrong with these types of ads, and admit that it caught MY attention.

I do hope you choose not to pull this ad, or any other, simply because a single overly-conservative pro-censorship group has chosen to bombard you with emails. I, for one, would love to see more enjoyable and fun commercials both from your company and others. I get so tired of the same ol' same ol' thing every time a show has to break for advertising!
Thanks for keeping me interested!

Responding to OMM's Email about Archie Comic

As in the past One Million Moms has decided it's their job to decide what others get to purchase and where. For the first time in history a comic book has published a story featuring a Gay Marriage! For many of us who have a long time relationship with Archie Comic Books, this milestone could not be better placed!  Archie has always portrayed their characters through the eyes of the teens of the day. And they are now starting to tackle issues which show support to teens and children of all walks of life.  As a woman who was once a LGBT teen, this is awesome! Teens, and children of all ages, need to see people like them, and families like theirs (especially those who have LGBT parents) throughout all forms of Media. Comic books may just be the tip of the iceberg, but it's a great start. Assuming groups like One Million Moms don't shame them in to removing it from shelves.

Now, to be on point, OMM is NOT targeting Archie Comic Books or their publisher (yet), instead they are targeting Toys 'R' Us, one of the many companies who sells this comic. Below is the mass email they are having members send to Toys 'R' Us in an effort to harass them in to removing this comic from their shelves. - Even threatening to stop shopping there if they don't.

The email reads:
"As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I am extremely disappointed to learn that select Toys 'R' Us stores are now selling 'Archie' comic books with a same-sex wedding displayed on the front cover. I am referring to the ones where the front cover reads "Just Married" with two men marrying, one wearing a service uniform.

I am aware that Toys 'R' Us employees do not actually set up the displays; they leave this up to the vendor. Your company should be aware of the merchandise being sold in your stores nonetheless. These comic books are displayed at the front checkout counters so they are highly visible to employees, managers, customers and children.

Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to same-sex marriage in your toy store. This is the last place a parent would expect to be confronted with questions from their children on topics that are too complicated for them to understand. Issues of this nature are being introduced too early and too soon, which is becoming extremely common and unnecessary.

A trip to the toy store turns into a premature discussion on sexual orientation and is completely uncalled for. Toys 'R' Us should be more responsible in the products they carry.

Please remove all the same-sex "Just Married - Archie" comic books immediately from your shelves. My decision to shop in your stores depends on it.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
"
In an effort to counter this mass email, I have sent Toys 'R' Us an email in support of this comic, and I do plan to head out to our local Toys R Us this week to pick up a few copies - assuming my local Toys R Us has them.

Here's the email I sent them:
"As a mother, and a member of the LGBT community, I am extremely pleased to learn that select Toys 'R' Us stores are now selling 'Archie' comic books with a same-sex wedding displayed on the front cover. (the ones where the front cover reads "Just Married" with two men marrying, one wearing a service uniform) I wish however, that it were EVERY store, rather than simply "select" stores!

I am aware that your stores leave it up to vendors to construct displays, but I felt it important to express my joy at your companies support of the LGBT community, nonetheless.
Proudly displaying these comic books where they can be seen by employees, managers, customers and children, shows not only support to those customers and employees who are openly members of the LGBT community, but also to those who are feeling pressured or unsure about their sexuality.

Children with homosexual parents or who are questioning their own sexuality are often victims of pressure, bullying and even violence. Children with homosexual parents NEED all the support they can get! They NEED to be shown that families like their own are just as normal, loving and accepted as everyone elses! And those who may be questioning their own sexuality need to know that they are normal! Showing such support to your young customer is wonderful gesture and one that I am thankful to see.

Children need to be exposed to love as much as possible! I have only rarely been a Toys 'R' Us customer, however, I will be purchasing numerous copies of this comic for the children in my family and for those of my friends. I would love to see more LGBT support from your company, and will happily support your company in return!

I look forward to hearing from you regarding my concern.
"
I am asking my readers to show support as well. Do NOT let OMM push another company in to removing their support of the LGBT community! Teens and Children, more than anyone else, need to see this type of support from media and companies which support them!

One Million Moms against Toys 'R' Us (Feb. 28, 2012)

Select Toys 'R' Us stores are now selling 'Archie' comic books with a same-sex wedding displayed on the front cover. The front cover reads "Just Married" with two men marrying and one is wearing a service uniform. This comic book is being sold in select stores across the country. One example is the Queensbury, NY location in the upstate New York area.

Toys 'R' Us employees do not actually set up the displays; they leave this up to the vendor, but they should be aware of the merchandise being sold in their stores nonetheless. These comic books are sold at the front checkout counters so they are highly visible to employees, managers, customers and children. Unfortunately, children are now being exposed to same-sex marriage in a toy store.

TAKE ACTION

Please send Toys 'R' Us an email letter requesting they remove all the same-sex "Just Married - Archie" comic books immediately from their shelves.Sincerely,

OMM continues to push "Christian Values" on GCB. (email 2/27/12)

OMM is Not Letting Up on 'GCB'

Victory! Keep up the great work! You are making a HUGE difference! Every single sponsor that OMM contacted last week decided not to sponsor this week's episode of "GCB." Dove (Unilever), Target (even though they began blocking our emails), L'Oreal, Eggo and Mini Wheats (Kellogg Company), Olive Garden, and Invent Help have pulled their ads from the Christian-bashing ABC program "GCB." Their ads were not present in the most recent "GCB" episode.

OMM is disgusted with ABC's program "GCB" which is blasphemy at its worst! It is based on the book "Good Christian B*tches" which is even written underneath the title on the ad featured on ABC's website. "Good Christian Belles" is seldom used and seems to have been dropped recently as for what the acronym stands for. "GCB" mocks Christianity repeatedly and the most recent episode insinuates that the writers are mocking OMM as well.

The storyline in the fourth episode included a watchdog blogger from a faith-based website known for targeting groups that are not family-friendly. Sound familiar? A protest is started over inappropriately named blue jeans a new employee designed. The company's owners are in a fake marriage to hide the fact that the husband is gay. The wife is jealous of the new hire's friendship with her husband because they are supposedly best friends. The show later reveals the blogger is actually the jealous wife who chooses to loose twenty-five million dollars to make the new employee look bad and regain the attention of her gay husband.

This anti-Christian program blasphemes God, Jesus Christ, God's Church, and the Bible. Their actions are giving damaging and destructive perceptions of our religion. Not only is this program insulting to viewers of faith, it is also degrading to women. Together we will defend our Christian values and beliefs.

The episode "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" aired Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 10/9 Central on ABC with a PG rating.

The show continues to use Biblical references, hymns, prayer, and scripture to portray Christians in a negative light. The fourth episode also included:
• Gossip
• Stealing
• Making a mockery of marriage
• Mom walks in on son pleasuring himself while looking at images on laptop
• Gay husband get phone number of another man at a bar and his wife is in a sexual relationship with her Tae Kwon Do instructor

ABC has sunk to an all time low with this program "GCB."

Take Action
Please send an email letter to the sponsors of this week's "GCB" asking that they pull their support immediately. This week's national sponsors were: Walgreens, Royal Caribbean, Marshalls and TJ Maxx.

One Million Moms vs Liquid-Plumr

Liquid-Plumr presents two sexy plumbers in their new commercial. The Clorox Company introduces the Liquid-Plumr Double Impact Snake and Gel System in this ad which is full of sexual innuendos as well. They are attempting to use sex to sell a product to unclog drains.

The commercial starts off with a woman in a supermarket daydreaming about what this new Liquid-Plumr product has to offer. She says, "Double impact," twice as she reads the bottle. In her dream she is at home and answers the door to find a sexy plumber. The plumber is nice looking with huge biceps and a tight shirt. He says, "I'm here to snake your drain." She says come on in and he walks upstairs. The doorbell rings again and it is a second sexy plumber. He says, "I'm here to flush your pipe." She answers with an okay and while he walks on upstairs she lets out a squeal and moan while letting down her hair. Then she wakes up to reality to find the two men in the supermarket. She flirts by giving sexy eyes to the one man in the deli slicing meat and the other in produce holding two melons. These two men are the same as in her dream. It may be coincidence, but the man in produce is standing beside cucumbers with a price sign behind him reading 69 cents.

The new Liquid-Plumr ad is offensive and completely inappropriate for television.

TAKE ACTION

Please send Liquid-Plumr (The Clorox Company) an email letter urging they pull this offensive commercial immediately and go back to their more responsible advertisement methods.

Sincerely,

Monica Cole, Director
