OMM vs. Dollar General (email 3/30/12)

Dollar General Shoves Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in Your Face

It is bad enough that Dollar General, along with other stores, is promoting The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue that features a bikini-clad model on the cover with the tiniest bikini OMM has ever seen before. OMM is singling out Dollar General because they have this particular issue in a separate stand displayed so it is one of the first things you see entering and one of the lasts things you see leaving the store. You can't miss it!

What makes matters worse is that the stand is eye level for children. The SI Swimsuit Issue is "soft p*rn" and is extremely offensive to families. This type of publishing is also degrading to women, mothers, and daughters.

Families should be able to enter their store without being subjected to indecency. Dollar General is not only offending customers; they are "pushing p*rnography." This magazine needs to be removed, or at least moved to the magazine aisle so families can avoid being exposed to this filth. Customers can choose to avoid the magazine aisle, but they cannot escape this when it is right by the door.

TAKE ACTION
Send an email letter to Dollar General now! Let them know you find their public display of pornography offensive, disgusting, and disrespectful to families. The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue needs to be removed from the store or at least moved to the magazine aisle so families can enter the store to shop without having indecency shoved in their face.

Sincerely,

Monica Cole, Director
